There may be times when it’s necessary to export student grades to a CSV file. This data could be used as a permanent record, as an import file for uploading grades to a student information system, or for doing some analysis on student performance.
There are 2 ways to export grade data. The first is to export grades from the course gradebook. The second, described here, uses the School Browser tool.
NOTE: The school browers access data from active courses and enrollments and displays the current student grades only. We recommend picking several dates in the school year when you export student data and let the staff know about these dates so that all courses have accurate grades.|
To export grades, navigate to the School Browser and select the "Students & Enrollments" tab. Click on the "Export Data" button to reveal the two options for downloading a .csv file.
By Student: This option produces a .csv file where each student is on one row. The row contains the student's name, external ID, their current school-wide learning outcome averages, and their current grade in each course. This file is useful for producing custom progress reports using mail merges and for data analysis.
By Enrollment: This option produces a .csv file where each student enrollment is on a row. A student with six active courses would take up six rows in the export. The row contains the course name, course external ID, student name, student external ID, current course grade, and grades for each of the school-wide learning outcome scores in that course. This report is useful for importing student grades into a student management system.
