Using activity templates is a handy Echo feature that saves time.
Teachers can save activities to their my library and quickly drag them into their course as needed. For example, if you find yourself using the same type of activity frequently, you might create and configure an activity template (instructions, submission drop box turned on, points possible entered, etc). Whenever you want to use an activity with these settings, all you have to do is drag and drop the template into the course to make a new copy of it.
Creating and using an activity template consists of three steps:
- Create the activity and adjust its settings
- Copy the activity to my library
- Drag and drop it into the course whenever you need it
To make an activity template, enter the course through the editor tool.
Create or find an assignment to be used as a template. Configure the assignment within the activity editor (title, content, point possible, drop box setting, etc). When finished, click save.
To make this item an activity template, you need to add it to your my library.
Click the three vertical dots next to the activity and select copy to my library.
To use this activity template you simply need to drag and drop the item into your course when ready.
Managing and Organizing Activity Templates
Activity templates are stored in a user's my library which can be found in the Community tool. From the user's my library, items can be edited, moved, and deleted just like within a course.
To manage your my library, click on the choose app icon located in the top tool bar and select community.
Select the my library tab.
From here click the three vertical dots next to any item to make adjustments.
