Notifications in Echo allow the user to stay connected to their students or members of the Echo community by being alerted via email or text.
There are 3 Echo notification settings that can be set up.
- Community
- Base Course
- Teacher
Where are Echo notifications located?
1. From the homepage click the profile icon from the top toolbar.
2. Select "Settings" from the drop down menu.
Before setting up notifications, add an email and/or phone number for notifications to be sent to.
Community Notifications
Within the "Community notifications" one can be notified when someone:
- Joins a team (group) owned by the user
- Creates a conversation in a group the user owns or is a member of
- Posts in a conversation the user owns
- Replies to a message (a post made to a conversation)
- Copies or links to user content
Note:
- Choose either daily or weekly depending on how often notifications are wanted.
- SMS is a text sent to the phone number given in "Notification Preferences"
Base Course Notifications
Within the "Base course notifications" one can be notified when in a base course they teach, someone:
- Changes the course settings
- Changes an activity
- Deletes an activity

- Choose either daily or weekly depending on how often notifications are wanted.

Teacher Notifications
Within the "Teacher notifications" one can be notified when:
- A student submits something
- A student's grade drops below passing
- A student's enrollment status changes
Note:
- Choose either daily or weekly depending on how often notifications are wanted.
- SMS is a text sent to the phone number given in "Notification Preferences"
Now that notifications are set up for the community, master courses and teacher, select "Save"
Note: Notification settings can be changed at anytime.
Observer Notifications
In the Observer notifications card, indicate which notifications you want to receive and how you want to receive them and click Save:
- By SMS and/or Email
- Daily and/or Weekly

Notifications can no longer be received via SMS or text message. When/why did this option become no longer available? Thank you!
