What do score colors in gradebook mean?

Ever wonder what the differences are between the Black, Red and Green score colors in your gradebook?    

• Black zero: The activity has a setting to be treated as a zero. This means that the student has not actually received a zero, but for the intent of score roll-up (i.e., total score), it is treated as zero. It also means that the item has been issued a zero but the student is able to change those scores by the work they perform and are graded on. It will reflect in the course grade if the student has not performed work in the item to change that grade.
• Red zero: The student has received a score of zero and the score is a failing score.
• Green zero:  A green value means that the student achieved a passing score.

If the "zero" you are seeing is not impacting the total score, then it is possible that the zero you are seeing is not a score, but rather minutes spent. There is a display option to show minutes spent in the gradebook. It will say "0m" next to the item if they have not spent time on the activity to avoid confusion with a black zero "0".
