How do I access a student’s Self Assessments or "Course Heartbeat"?

The "Course Heartbeat" is a feature in Echo that allows students to communicate how they are feeling about their progress in a course. Best practice is to allow students to self assess once a week or once every two weeks.

To see a student's "Course Heartbeat", click on a course card from the homepage.

In the top toolbar, locate and click on the heart "self assess" icon.

A student has the ability to self assess in three categories:

  • Understanding
    • Red = Lost
    • Yellow = OK
    • Green = Competent
    • Blue = Expert
  • Interest
    • Red = Bored
    • Yellow = OK
    • Green = Interested
    • Blue = Very Interested
  • Effort
    • Red = Slacking
    • Yellow = OK
    • Green = Trying
    • Blue = 100%

Echo is constantly being improved based on the feedback from users and we strive to keep our documentation up to date.  If this document doesn’t match what you are seeing in Echo, please let us know.
