From the teacher homepage click the people icon located on the course that needs groups.
Click the tools icon located in the top toolbar and select manage groupings.
Click add grouping.
In the generate group pop up window, give this set of groups a name under group prefix.
Next choose your group creation method.
If fixed number of groups is chosen:
1. Specify the number of groups
2. Chose how you would like assign students to groups
- None (group them yourself)
- Random
- Round robin
- Alphabetical
- Homogeneous by performance
- Heterogeneous by performance
- Heterogeneous by performance - Top/Bottom (scroll down to see this option)
- Homogeneous by performance - by grading period (scroll down to see this option)
If target number of students per group is chosen:
1. Specify the number of students per group (Echo will generate the number of groups needed based off of this setting)
2. Chose how you would like assign students to groups
- None (group them yourself)
- Random
- Round robin
- Alphabetical
- Homogeneous by performace
- Heterogeneous by performance
- Heterogeneous by performance - Top/Bottom (scroll down to see this option)
- Homogeneous by performance - by grading period (scroll down to see this option)
When finished selecting how groups will be generated, click generate.
Now you will be able to:
- See your grouping name.
- Add a group to this set.
- Edit each group name.
- Simply check and uncheck boxes to move students from group to group.
When groups are ready and all adjustments have been made, click save.
