In Echo teachers can give feedback in a few different ways. When grading student work, there is the option to create basic text feedback, audio feedback, video feedback, and you can even create feedback templates if you find yourself typing the same message to students over and over agin.
To give feedback, enter a course through the Gradebook tool.
Within the Gradbook, click on the Activities tab.
Within the Activity tool, click on the assignment that needs feedback.
Select a student to start with.
To give text feedback, simply click in the feedback box and type your message. When giving text feedback you have the option add a link, change the text color, insert a photo, and even use an equation.
When you submit a student's score, your feedback will be returned to them.
To give video feedback, click on the Insert video icon.
Record up to three minutes of video by selecting the record button (there may be a prompt to permit the program to use computer's camera and microphone).
Or select upload and choose file to upload a previously recorded video file.
Click play to review the recording if you wish then click insert.
When you submit the student's score, your video feedback will be returned to them.
To give audio feedback, click on the Insert audio icon.
Record up to three minutes of audio by selecting the record button (there may be a prompt to permit the program to use computer's microphone).
Or select upload and choose file to upload a previously recorded audio file.
Click the play icon to listen to the recording if you wish then click insert.
When you submit the student's score, your audio feedback will be returned to them.
To create a feedback template, click Edit templates below the feedback box.
Click Create template.
NOTE: You can also create groups of templates. Once you create feedback templates, they will follow you to all of your courses. You may want to group them by subject to keep them organized from course to course if you plan on making several feedback templates. To create a template group select Create group.
- Give the template a title.
- Assign it to a template group (if you have some, if not, you can skip this part).
- Create your template using the rich text editor.
- When finished click done.
NOTE: You can even add images or memes to your template if you would like!
Now the template created will show beneath the feedback box in all courses as an option for giving feedback.
To use this template, simply click on its name and the template will populate in the feedback box.
When you submit the student's score, your feedback will be returned to them.
Students will be able to see that they have feedback in their activity stream located on their homepage, or in their course gradebook.
To view their feedback they can simply click on the assignment with the feedback indicator.
