A group task is an activity assigned to a group of students. When the group completes the assignment, one student turns it in for the entire group.
Once one student submits the work, the rest of the students see that item as "complete" in their gradebook.
All students within a group receive the same score on the assignment when graded by the course teacher (although individual grades can be adjusted).
Before designating a task/activity as a group assignment, group sets must be created in the course. See how to create groups here.
Enter a course through the Editor tool.
You can either create a new assignment to make a group task, or edit an existing assignment (that students have not submitted work for yet) to make it a group task.
To create a new assignment, click the + Add Activity.
Select the assignment activity type.
Give the activity a title, add any information students may need to complete this group task.
- Click the settings tab.
- In the gradebook and submissions panel, choose how groups will submit their work.
- Give the assignment points for associated learning outcomes.
- Select this is a group assignment.
- From the student grouping drop down, select the groups you wish to assign this task to.
- When finished click save.
NOTE: If you haven't created your groups yet, you can select manage groupings to access the group creator.
