Echo Viewer App for Parents and Students
The Echo Viewer mobile app is for students and parents to access grades, agendas, to-do lists, and more. Users can find it and download it from the Apple App Store.
Once the app is downloaded, students and parents will need their existing username and password as well as the school ID to login.
Your school ID is the first part of your Echo URL.
If you have a separate domain for parents, the school ID they use will be different than their student's, but will still be the first part of their Echo URL.
Example of school ID: <echoschool.echo-ntn.org>
Supporting Parents in using Echo Viewer
In order for parents to be able to use the Echo Viewer app, they will need to have an observer account. They will also need to be associated with their student or students if they have multiple.
- How do I manage parent accounts?
- How do I create parent accounts?
- How do I associate a parent with a student?
Once parents have an account and have been associated with a student, send parents their account username and password as well as a letter to inform parents of the new App. See attached parent template. There is also an Echo Help Center document that walks parents through downloading and navigating the app. Parents should also set up their account notifications to receive important updates about their student's course work and grades.
Supporting Students in using Echo Viewer
Students will need their Echo username and password as well as school ID to login to Echo Viewer. Once your school is ready, send a letter out to each student explaining the app and how to use it. See attached student template. There is also an Echo Help Center document that walks students through downloading and navigating the app.
Supporting Office Staff
With this new addition to Echo, office staff will more than likely receive calls with questions regarding the app. Before sending out information to parents and students regarding the Echo Viewer app, prepare office staff with brief training/overview of the app.
Examples of information to share with office staff:
- Share the Echo Viewer App for Students/Parents Help Center documentation with office staff.
- Give office staff the School ID(s), depending on if you have different domains for parents and students.
- Give office staff access to parent/student username and passwords OR information on who parents can contact to get their account information.
The Echo team is currently exploring creating an Android version of the Echo Viewer application. No estimated time of arrival yet.
Echo is constantly being improved based on the feedback from users and we strive to keep our documentation up to date. If this document doesn’t match what you are seeing in Echo, please let us know.
