Note: This document references views and actions that are only available to the Echo Administrator.
When configuring the domain for school year and grading periods, the Enable weighted periods and final course scores is enabled by default. This allows for courses to use weighted grading periods. However, if this setting is disabled mid year it may cause unexpected behavior within the gradebook.
The following describe what the staff may experience and how to correct it.
Behavior
Staff member reports scores are not displaying in the gradebook for the current quarter, but did in the prior quarters. This behavior is caused by weights being in prior quarter and a 0 (zero) in the new quarter. The staff does not see these values because the weighted grades feature is disabled at the domain.
To correct the display behavior, please see the steps below.
Domain settings update
- Click on Domain settings from the navigation list (3-dots)
- Scroll to School years and grading periods
- Click the box for Enable weighted periods and final course score
- Save and refresh browser
Course update
- Click on Course settings
- Scroll to Grading periods
- Update the weight of the new semester to have a value. For example make both Fall and Semester 50
- Click Done and Save
Reset Domain settings
- Click on Domain settings from the navigation list (3 dots)
- Scroll to School year and grading periods
- Deselect (uncheck) Enable weighted periods and final course score
- Save and refresh browser
