New Tech Network has been notified by our messaging provider that messages being sent from Echo are currently undeliverable. This includes messages sent by teachers, students, or notifications generated automatically by Echo. We are working closely with our provider to restore service as soon as possible.
In the meantime, we will be disabling the feature to send email from Echo so that users do not attempt to send messages as they would not be delivered.
We will provide an update once this feature has been enabled again and messages can be sent.
Update
Our messaging provider was able to restore our messaging services and users can continue to send messages from Echo.
To prevent the issue from occurring again, we have made some changes to how Echo sends notifications. Specifically, the following notification types are no longer supported for the Right away (SMS) nor Right away (email) options.
Scores and feedback (student notifications)
- My grade drops below passing
- My enrollment status changes
Observer notifications
- A student's grade drops below passing
- A student's enrollment status changes
Teacher notifications
- A student's grade drops below passing
- A student's enrollment status changes
Base (master) course notifications
- Changes the course settings
- Changes an activity
- Deletes an activity
If you wish to continue receiving any of these notifications and you currently are only subscribed to Right away, you will need to subscribe to the Daily digest or Weekly digest options. See How do I manage notifications?
NOTE: The user Settings page currently displays the option to enable Right away notifications for these types. Even though they may be enabled, a notification will not be sent for these types. A subsequent Echo update will remove these Right away options.
