How do I sync parent accounts using the OneRoster SIS Sync?

Parent/guardian accounts can be managed using Echo's OneRoster SIS Sync feature. Parents accounts are created and removed through the same users.csv file that manages student and staff accounts.

Important considerations:

1. Parent accounts need to be associated with their student(s). This is accomplished by adding the student's SourcedId to the agentSourcedIds column in the parent's row on the users.csv file. If the parent has multiple students, use double quotes and separate with commas.
2. The student account must also be associated with the parent account. This is accomplished by adding the parent's SourcedId to the agentSourcedIds column in the student's row on the users.csv file. If the student has multiple parents or guardians, use double quotes and separate with commas.
3. To avoid parents with multiple students having to log in to multiple domains, we recommend putting all parent accounts in a single domain (usually the district domain). The organization(domain) must be listed in the orgs.csv file. To assign the parent account to a specific domain, enter the organization's ID into the OrgSourcedIds column in the parent's row on the users.csv file.
    

Tips:

1. To make is easier for parents to remember their username, use their email address.
2. To make identifying parent accounts easier, manipulate their sourcedID in the users.csv file. For example, if the SIS gives the parent an ID of "123456", you can structure the data in the OneRoster users.csv file so that parents have "Guardian123456" as their sourcedID, which would then appear in Echo as "or-Guardian123456" in the External Id field.
    

Getting Parents Into Echo

To get parents into Echo for the first time, provide them with:

1. the URL to the domain their account lives in
2. their username (using an email address for the parent accounts makes this easier)
3. instructions for setting their own password using Echo's Forgot Password function
